Floors for North County Workplaces
Commercial and shop floor epoxy covers floors that take more abuse than a home garage: rolling carts, pallet jacks, forklifts, dropped tools, solvents and constant foot traffic. North County has plenty of them. Oceanside's top employers listed on Wikipedia include manufacturers such as Genentech, TE Connectivity and Hydranautics, and Vista's list includes Watkins Manufacturing and Dr. Bronner's. Around those are many smaller shops, auto bays, breweries, gyms and warehouses on concrete slabs.
What a commercial system adds
Commercial floors use thicker coats and higher-solids resin. HomeAdvisor puts 100% solids commercial and industrial coatings at $12 or more per square foot. These systems build more thickness per coat, resist impact and abrasion, and stand up better to oils, coolants and cleaning chemicals. Quartz or aggregate broadcasts can be added for heavy wear and texture. Coving can carry the coating up the wall in wash-down areas.
Prep on working floors
Shop floors usually come with years of oil, coolant, tire marks and old patches. We grind with large dust-controlled equipment, degrease contaminated areas, cut out and fill failed patches, and treat joints. Expansion joints that move are left open or filled with a flexible material so the coating does not crack along them. On busy floors we can work in sections so part of the space stays open.
Spaces we coat
- Auto repair and detailing bays
- Light manufacturing and assembly areas
- Warehouses and storage units
- Breweries, commercial kitchens and food prep rooms
- Gyms and fitness studios
- Retail floors and dealerships
Scheduling around your business
Downtime costs money, so we plan with you. Fast-curing polyaspartic topcoats can shorten closures, and night or weekend work is possible on many jobs. We give you a written schedule showing when each area will be out of use and when equipment can return.
Shop floors at home
Not every shop floor is commercial. Rural lots in Bonsall, Fallbrook and Valley Center often have detached shops and barns with concrete floors used for equipment, vehicles and projects. These floors see the same oil, tool drops and rolling loads as a business. We scope them the same way, with a thicker system where loads are heavy and a flake or quartz broadcast for grip.
Safety and marking
We can add anti-slip aggregate in wet areas, safety-color walkways and line striping for aisles and parking. If your space has specific requirements from an inspector, landlord or insurer, bring them to the estimate and we will match the system to them.

Commercial & Shop Floor Epoxy Questions
How much does commercial epoxy flooring cost?
HomeAdvisor lists 100% solids commercial and industrial coatings at $12 or more per square foot. Large open floors can cost less per foot than small, detailed areas. Heavy contamination or coving adds cost.
Can you work while my business is closed?
Often, yes. We can phase the work, use fast-curing products and schedule nights or weekends. The written quote spells out the schedule.
Will epoxy hold up to forklifts?
A thick, well-bonded 100% solids system is used in warehouses for that reason. We size the system to your equipment and traffic, and we ask about loads at the walk-through.
Can you coat over an oily shop floor?
Only after the oil is dealt with. We grind and degrease contaminated areas, and badly soaked spots may need more aggressive treatment. Coating over oil is a common cause of failure.
